About Mono-Crystalline
Monocrystalline solar panels are cut from a single silicon ingot, giving them their distinctive deep black colour and a higher efficiency than polycrystalline alternatives. Typical mono panels run between 20% and 22% efficiency against 15% for polycrystalline cells, so you need fewer panels to hit a target output.
This range covers flexible ETFE-coated panels for boats, vans and RVs, standard aluminium-framed panels for off-grid 12V, 24V and 48V systems, and full-size all-black and N-type modules for rooftop arrays. Half-cut and bifacial options are also included, giving installers a choice between straightforward mono cells and newer dual-glass, dual-sided constructions.
Monocrystalline cells also cope better with heat and shading than polycrystalline panels, losing less power as roof temperatures climb above standard test conditions. That makes them a common choice where roof space is limited and every panel needs to pull its weight.
