800W Dual MPPT Plug-In Solar Microinverter WiFi | Hoymiles HMS-800-2WB

The Hoymiles HMS-800-2WB is a single phase 800VA microinverter from the HiFlow Pro series, built to run two solar panels on two independent MPPT inputs. It suits small residential PV systems on balconies, terraces, garden structures and outbuildings.

Micro inverter with built-in WiFi and Bluetooth

Wi-Fi and Bluetooth are built in, so the unit talks directly to the S-Miles Home app without a separate DTU gateway. It ships with a 5m plug and play cable fitted with a UK Type G plug.

Each panel gets its own MPPT tracker, which matters when the two face different directions or one is shaded for part of the day. The weaker panel does not pull down the output of the other. The inverter converts the DC from both panels into 230V AC at 50Hz and feeds it through the 5m Flex-S3 plug and play cable into the property's AC supply. Night consumption is under 50mW, and the unit is rated for ambient temperatures from -40°C to +65°C.

The S-Miles Home app shows real-time output and lets you configure and manage the system from a smartphone. The enclosure measures 261 x 180 x 35.1mm and weighs 3.2kg, small enough to mount close to the panels on the same frame.

Installation and safety notes

Although the HMS-800-2WB is designed for plug and play connection, any solar generator connected to a UK property's electrical supply must meet BS 7671 (IET Wiring Regulations) and the requirements of the local Distribution Network Operator. Installation by a qualified electrician or MCS certified installer is recommended, to check the circuit, earthing and protection and to handle any DNO notification that applies.

Connect only PV modules within the DC ratings: maximum input voltage 65V, maximum input current 14A and maximum short circuit current 25A per input. The enclosure is IP67 rated and suitable for outdoor mounting; fit it in a ventilated position, keep the AC plug and socket protected from rain, and never connect it through an extension lead or multi-way adaptor. This is a grid-connected PV microinverter, not designed for off-grid systems or direct battery connection.
