This 18W LED gear tray from Ledison is a direct retrofit for 28W and 36W 2D CFL lamps, combining everyday lighting with an adjustable microwave sensor and a 3-hour maintained emergency backup in one unit. It fits round ceiling and wall lights that previously took a fluorescent 2D lamp, letting electricians and maintenance teams update existing fittings without replacing the whole luminaire.

Emergency and sensor operation

In normal use the fitting switches on and off from a wall switch or sensor like any standard light. If mains power fails, the gear tray keeps working as an emergency light for up to 3 hours, which is why it is described as a maintained emergency fitting. That makes it suitable for corridors, communal areas, stairwells, entrances and other commercial spaces where emergency illumination matters.

The microwave sensor can be adjusted for sensitivity, detection range and photocell threshold, so it can be set to suit shared buildings and access routes where lighting is only needed when someone is moving through the space.

Retrofit installation

Ledison designed this gear tray to replace a 2D fluorescent lamp and its control gear with a single battery-backed LED unit. It suits many round ceiling or wall lights originally fitted with a 2D lamp. The insulated junction box and 4-way power block make it straightforward to wire in switched live, unswitched live, neutral and earth connections.
