Product Description

The Victron SmartShunt 2000A is a standalone battery shunt monitor built for high-current battery systems that need accurate state-of-charge tracking. It pairs directly with a smartphone or tablet over Bluetooth, so there's no separate display unit to wire in or mount. It suits professional off-grid, marine and vehicle installs running large battery banks.

Key features

  • Current rating, 2000A continuous, for large battery banks and high-draw systems.
  • Connectivity, built-in Bluetooth for the Victron Connect app on iOS and Android, plus a VE.Direct port for GX devices, MPPT controllers and other Victron gear.
  • Monitoring data, state of charge, voltage, current, power, consumed amp-hours and time remaining.
  • Compact design, the SmartShunt is the monitor itself, with no display panel required.
  • Battery chemistry support, lead-acid (AGM, gel, flooded) and lithium (LiFePO4).
  • Alarms, configurable alarm and relay outputs for low state-of-charge or voltage thresholds.

Product overview

The SmartShunt replaces the usual shunt-and-display pairing with one unit. All data comes through the Victron Connect app over Bluetooth, giving a live dashboard of battery status without a dedicated panel taking up space, which matters in motorhomes, narrowboats and off-grid cabins.

At 2000A it's the highest-rated model in the SmartShunt range, aimed at very large battery banks or high continuous loads: electric propulsion assist, large inverter setups, commercial off-grid sites. The VE.Direct port lets it feed a Cerbo GX or other GX device for a full Victron system. Battery chemistry and capacity are set in the app for accurate state-of-charge readings.

It also synchronises with solar charge controllers and other sources, so the state-of-charge figure accounts for every charge and discharge path rather than just the ones it can see directly.

Applications

Large off-grid battery systems, marine and narrowboat installs, motorhome and coach conversions with heavy 12V or 24V loads, commercial off-grid sites with multiple battery strings, Victron systems built around a Cerbo GX or Venus GX, and electric vehicle auxiliary battery monitoring.

Installation notes

This unit should be fitted by a qualified electrician or experienced system integrator. At 2000A, incorrect wiring on a DC system this size carries a serious risk. The shunt goes on the negative battery terminal side, with all negative loads and charge sources wired to the load side of it. Cable sizing and fusing must match the system current, and battery parameters should be set in the Victron Connect app before commissioning.
