The Victron SmartShunt 500A/50mV IP65 is a standalone battery monitor built for solar, off-grid and marine systems where accurate state-of-charge readings matter. It connects to a smartphone or tablet over Bluetooth, so there's no need for a separate display unit. The IP65 rating means it can be fitted in damp or dusty locations.

How it works

The SmartShunt replaces a separate shunt-and-display combination with one compact unit. Configuration and monitoring both happen in the Victron Connect app, so no wiring is needed for a remote panel. That suits installations where panel space is tight or the battery bank sits somewhere awkward. Fed through a VE.Direct cable, the SmartShunt's readings can also appear on a Cerbo GX or Venus GX alongside solar yield, inverter load and grid status.

Installation notes

The SmartShunt fits in the negative battery cable, between the battery negative terminal and every other negative connection in the system. All negative loads and charge sources must pass through it for the current reading to be accurate. Systems above 48V, or lithium installations, should be wired by a qualified electrician. A VE.Direct cable is needed for GX integration but isn't included.
