Product Description
The Victron BMV-710H Smart is a battery monitor built for higher-voltage systems, measuring battery voltage up to 400V DC. It suits professional installers and off-grid system designers working with series-connected battery banks, including lithium and lead-acid configurations, where standard monitors run out of range.
Victron battery monitor with high-voltage shunt
- Voltage range, measures up to 400V DC, beyond the range of standard BMV monitors.
- Readings, state of charge, voltage, current, power, consumed amp-hours and time remaining.
- Connectivity, built-in Bluetooth via the VictronConnect app, plus VE.Direct for GX device integration.
- Relay output, programmable for alarms, load control or generator start.
- Shunt, 500A / 50mV shunt included as standard; compatible with external shunts for higher currents.
- Display, backlit, with navigation across all monitored parameters.
Product overview
This is the high-voltage variant of Victron's BMV-710 Smart. The standard 710 is rated to 95V; the 710H extends that to 400V DC, which matters for series-connected battery banks or high-voltage DC bus systems in larger off-grid installations, industrial backup power and some marine or EV applications above 48V.
State of charge accuracy depends on precise current measurement over time. The 500A shunt feeds a high-resolution current measurement circuit that calculates consumed amp-hours continuously. Both the Peukert exponent and charge efficiency factor are configurable, so the monitor can be tuned to flooded lead-acid, AGM, gel or lithium chemistry. Bluetooth is built in rather than added by a dongle, giving full access to settings and logs through VictronConnect without a separate GX device. Where a Cerbo GX or similar is present, the BMV-710H also communicates over VE.Direct.
Applications
Fits high-voltage off-grid banks where series-connected cells exceed 48V or 96V, industrial and commercial backup systems with high-voltage DC bus configurations, and marine installations with elevated string voltages. Also used for amp-hour and state of charge tracking on lithium systems needing Peukert compensation, and in systems tied into a Victron GX device.

Installation notes
This monitor operates at voltages up to 400V DC, which carries a real risk of electric shock and arc flash. Installation should be carried out by a qualified electrician or experienced off-grid installer. The shunt goes on the negative battery terminal, with all loads and chargers on the load side of it. De-energise the system fully before making connections, and check UK wiring regulations and your DNO where relevant.
