Product Description

The Victron Skylla-i 24/80 (1+1) is a three-stage battery charger for 24V systems, delivering up to 80A of charge current. The (1+1) configuration adds a dedicated 4A output for a second battery bank, so a service battery and a starter or auxiliary battery can be charged from one unit. It suits marine, vehicle, industrial and off-grid installations.

Key features for marine battery charger use

  • Primary output, 80A for 24V battery banks
  • Secondary output (1+1), 4A for a second battery bank
  • Charging algorithm, three-stage adaptive (bulk, absorption, float) with an optional storage mode
  • Battery compatibility, flooded lead-acid, AGM, gel and lithium-ion (with appropriate BMS)
  • Parallel operation, multiple Skylla-i units can be synchronised for larger battery banks
  • Connectivity, VE.Bus, for integration with Victron Quattro inverter/chargers and GX monitoring devices
  • AC input, 230V, suitable for shore power, generator or mains supply

Applications

On yachts, narrowboats and commercial vessels it charges service and starter battery banks from shore power or a generator. In commercial vehicles and motorhomes it maintains a large leisure battery bank alongside the vehicle starter battery. Off-grid cabins and industrial sites use it for bulk charging 24V banks, and it can also keep standby or UPS battery banks topped up. Within a Victron VE.Bus system, it runs as a managed charger alongside Quattro inverter/chargers, with charge current adjusted according to available AC input.

Installation notes

Fitting should be carried out by a qualified electrician or marine electrical engineer. Both the 230V AC connection and the 24V DC battery connection need correctly rated fusing and cable cross-section. Marine installations should follow relevant ISO or ABYC wiring standards, and lithium battery banks require a compatible BMS with charge enable/disable functionality.
