Product Description
The Victron Phoenix Charger 24/16 (2+1) is a three-output battery charger for 24V battery banks. It supplies up to 16A on its primary output and adds two secondary outputs, so a main service bank and auxiliary batteries can all be kept topped up from one unit. Input voltage runs from 120-240V AC, covering shore power and generator supplies on both sides of the Atlantic.
Key features of the Victron Phoenix Charger 24/16
- Output configuration, 24V, 16A on the primary output, with two additional outputs in a 2+1 layout.
- Input range, 120-240V AC, no manual switching between regional supplies.
- Charging algorithm, adaptive four-stage charging (bulk, absorption, float, storage) with automatic battery type detection.
- Temperature compensation, output voltage adjusts to battery temperature to prevent overcharging.
- Weight, 3.6kg, compact enough for confined spaces on boats and vehicles.
- Protection, reverse polarity, over-temperature and output short circuit protection.
- Monitoring, VE.Direct interface for use with VictronConnect.
How the adaptive charging works
The charger watches battery behaviour during absorption and adjusts charge time to match. A deeply discharged bank gets a full cycle; a lightly discharged one moves to float sooner, cutting unnecessary heat. The 2+1 outputs let the main bank pull full current while the two secondary outputs hold starter or auxiliary batteries at a lower rate.
Monitoring and setup
VE.Direct connectivity lets you monitor and configure the charger through VictronConnect, either over Bluetooth with a VE.Direct Bluetooth Smart dongle or via USB. Battery type presets and absorption voltage can be set to match the chemistry fitted.
Applications
Suits marine setups with separate service and starter banks, motorhomes and campervans running a leisure bank alongside an engine start battery, off-grid cabins charged from a generator, and vehicles that need to cope with different regional power standards. It also works well in backup systems maintaining several battery banks at once.
Installation notes
Fit by a qualified electrician or an experienced marine or vehicle electrician working with DC battery systems. The AC supply must be correctly fused and DC connections rated for the current drawn. Mount in a ventilated spot away from flammable materials, and follow applicable marine wiring standards on vessels. This charger is not grid-tied and does not require G98 or G99 notification.
