Product Description

This Victron RS485 to USB interface cable creates a direct serial link between RS485-equipped Victron devices and a PC or laptop. At 5 metres long, it gives installers enough slack to reach equipment mounted in a cabinet or on a wall without having to work right next to the unit. It is used for configuration, monitoring and firmware updates on compatible Victron products.

Key features

  • Cable length, 5 metres
  • Interface, RS485 to USB
  • Power, draws power from the USB host, no external supply needed
  • Compatibility, Victron devices with an RS485 port, including select MPPT solar chargers and inverters
  • Software, works with VictronConnect and other Victron configuration tools on Windows, macOS and Linux where drivers are supported
  • Weight, 0.187kg

Applications

Use it for configuring and updating firmware on RS485-equipped Victron devices in the field, or for monitoring and diagnostics on off-grid and marine systems. It also suits bench testing and pre-configuration of equipment before it goes to site, and connecting to Victron MPPT chargers or inverters during commissioning.

Installation notes

This is a passive communication accessory. It carries no mains or high-voltage DC power, so no special electrical qualification is needed to connect it between a Victron device and a PC. Install the correct driver on your computer before use, and always follow Victron's guidance when updating firmware on a live system, confirming the device is in a safe state first.
