Product Description
The Victron VE.Can RJ45 terminator is a passive network component used to correctly terminate a VE.Can bus. Sold as a bag of two, it suits installers setting up Victron systems where several devices share a single VE.Can network.
Key features
- Function, terminates a VE.Can network bus at both ends to prevent signal reflection and communication errors.
- Connector, RJ45 form factor, fits directly into the VE.Can port on compatible Victron devices.
- Power, passive component, no power or configuration needed.
- Pack size, bag of two, giving both terminators required for one VE.Can network segment.
- Weight, 8 g per bag.
- Compatibility, works with Victron devices using the VE.Can interface, including Quattro, Multi, MPPT charge controllers and Cerbo GX.
Product overview
A CAN bus network needs termination at each end to function correctly. Without it, signal reflections can cause unreliable data, fault conditions or loss of communication between devices such as inverter/chargers, MPPT controllers and the GX device. This terminator plugs directly into a spare VE.Can RJ45 port to provide that termination.
Each VE.Can segment needs exactly two terminators, one at each physical end of the bus. This bag supplies both for a single segment. Larger systems with multiple segments will need additional bags.
Applications
- Terminating VE.Can networks in off-grid solar installations using Victron equipment.
- Completing CAN bus wiring in marine and vehicle installations with multiple Victron devices.
- Commercial and industrial Victron systems where several devices share a single VE.Can bus.
- Replacing lost or damaged terminators in an existing installation.
What's in the box
- 2 x VE.Can RJ45 terminator plugs
Installation notes
Fit one terminator into the unused VE.Can port on each of the first and last devices in the network chain. Devices in the middle should have both VE.Can ports occupied by network cables, not terminators. Incorrect termination is a common cause of VE.Can communication issues, so check placement if devices are not appearing correctly on the GX device or VRM portal. No tools are required.
