The Victron MultiPlus Compact 12/1200/50-16 combines a pure sine wave inverter and a battery charger in one housing, built for 12V DC systems with a 230V AC output. It suits marine, vehicle and off-grid installations where a full-size MultiPlus would take up too much space.

Product overview

The 50A charger uses an adaptive algorithm that adjusts to battery condition, which helps battery service life compared with a fixed-rate charger. The 16A AC input current limit lets the unit run from a limited shore supply or small generator without tripping it, with PowerAssist covering the shortfall from the battery when a load spikes.

VE.Bus connectivity allows configuration through VE.Configure, integration with a Cerbo GX or Color Control GX, and use in a system where several units run in parallel or split-phase. That makes this Compact unit suitable for standalone backup as well as a larger managed installation.

The transfer switch responds fast enough to protect most sensitive loads during a mains failure. A UPS function can be enabled through software configuration for critical equipment needing a tighter transfer time.

Applications

Used on marine vessels running inverter and charger duties from a 12V house bank, in motorhomes and campervans with 230V AC appliances, off-grid cabins with occasional generator charging, and as UPS backup for sensitive equipment. Installation notes

Installation should be carried out by a qualified electrician familiar with DC battery systems and 230V AC wiring, connected to a correctly sized 12V battery bank with properly rated cabling and fusing. Grid-connected UK applications may require G98 or G99 compliance and DNO notification. Configure battery type and charge parameters in VE.Configure before commissioning, and avoid installing in enclosed spaces without ventilation.
