Product Description

The Victron MultiPlus 24/500/10-16 is a combined inverter and battery charger in a single compact unit, built for 24V DC systems with 230V AC output. It suits off-grid installations, marine and vehicle applications, and small backup power systems where space and weight matter.

Key features

  • Inverter output, 500VA continuous at 230V AC from a 24V DC battery bank.
  • Battery charger, integrated 10A charger with an adaptive charge algorithm to extend battery life.
  • AC transfer switch, 16A, allowing connection to shore power or a generator with automatic switchover.
  • VE.Bus interface, enables system integration, remote monitoring and configuration via Victron GX devices.
  • PowerAssist, supplements shore or generator power to prevent overload on limited AC sources.
  • Weight, 5.5 kg, suited to confined spaces.

How it works

When an AC source such as shore power or a generator is present, the unit passes power through to connected loads while charging the battery bank at up to 10A. If that AC source fails or is removed, the transfer switch operates in under 20 milliseconds, moving loads to inverter power without interrupting most equipment.

PowerAssist helps where the AC supply is limited: on a boat with a restricted shore connection, or alongside a small generator, the MultiPlus draws extra current from the battery to top up the AC source. That means breakers do not trip and smaller generators can be used. Multiple units can also be linked in parallel or configured for split-phase or three-phase operation, and VE.Bus lets the system be monitored and configured through Victron's GX range, including the Cerbo GX.

Applications

  • Off-grid cabins and small remote installations with 24V battery banks.
  • Marine vessels needing shore power integration and battery charging.
  • Motorhomes and large campervans with 24V electrical systems.
  • Small UPS applications for sensitive equipment.
  • Backup power for telecoms or monitoring equipment in remote locations.

What's in the box

  • 1 x Victron MultiPlus 24/500/10-16 230V VE.Bus inverter charger unit.

Installation notes

Fit this by a qualified electrician or accredited installer familiar with DC battery systems and 230V AC wiring. Connect to a correctly fused 24V battery bank with cable sized for the DC current involved. Grid-connected or shore-power wiring must comply with BS 7671. VE.Bus configuration needs Victron's MK3-USB interface or a compatible GX device. Check the unit's suitability before fitting anywhere exposed to water ingress.
