Product Description

The Victron MultiPlus 48/3000/35-50 combines an inverter and a battery charger in one unit for 48V battery systems running 230V AC loads. It suits off-grid installations, backup power systems, and marine or vehicle setups where a single device needs to supply AC power and manage battery charging.

Key features of the power inverter charger

  • Inverter output, 3000VA (2400W continuous) pure sine wave at 230V AC from a 48V DC battery bank.
  • Battery charger, 35A charging current with a 50A AC transfer switch for grid or generator input.
  • VE.Bus interface, allows parallel and three-phase configuration with additional MultiPlus units.
  • PowerControl, limits AC input load to prevent generator or shore power overload.
  • PowerAssist, draws on battery power to supplement AC input during peak demand, allowing a smaller generator or grid connection.
  • Transfer time, under 20 milliseconds, keeping connected loads powered during input switching.

Product overview

The unit pairs a pure sine wave inverter with a multi-stage battery charger, with an adaptive charging algorithm that adjusts the charge profile to the battery's behaviour. The 3000VA rating is continuous rather than peak, which matters when sizing for pumps, compressors or power tools with sustained draw. Running at 48V reduces cable losses and gets more usable energy from a given battery bank compared with 12V or 24V systems.

Up to three MultiPlus units can be wired in parallel, or set up in split-phase or three-phase configuration, scaling from a single residential backup unit to larger installations. Configuration runs through VEConfigure software, and the unit integrates with Victron's GX range for monitoring through the VRM portal.

Applications

  • Off-grid residential and rural properties needing a 230V AC supply from a 48V battery bank.
  • Backup power systems for critical loads, where fast transfer time matters during mains failure.
  • Marine and narrowboat installations with 48V DC systems and shore power connections.
  • Mobile or vehicle-based power systems, including expedition vehicles and larger motorhomes.
  • Multi-unit installations needing parallel or three-phase output via VE.Bus.
