Product overview
The MK3-USB is the standard tool for accessing the VE.Bus communication port on Victron MultiPlus, MultiPlus-II, MultiGrid and Quattro inverter/chargers. Without it, settings such as charge algorithms, input current limits, transfer switch behaviour and system configuration cannot be adjusted from a PC.
VEConfigure, the main configuration tool for VE.Bus devices, communicates only via MK3-USB. VEFlash, used for firmware updates, does the same. Both run on Windows. The interface draws its operating power from the connected Victron device, so the PC's USB port doesn't need to supply power.
It does not offer real-time monitoring or data logging. For live monitoring, a GX device or VE.Bus Smart Dongle is the right choice instead. This interface is purely a configuration and firmware tool.
Applications
- Commissioning and configuring Victron MultiPlus, MultiPlus-II, MultiGrid and Quattro inverter/chargers on site.
- Updating firmware on VE.Bus devices using VEFlash.
- Adjusting charge settings, input current limits and transfer switch parameters via VEConfigure.
- Diagnosing and reconfiguring existing installations during service visits.
- Setting up parallel and three-phase MultiPlus or Quattro systems needing PC-based configuration.
What's in the box
- 1 x Victron MK3-USB interface (VE.Bus to USB)
Installation notes
This is a configuration accessory and carries no mains or battery voltage. It connects between the RJ45 VE.Bus port on the Victron device and a USB port on a Windows PC. Configuration of inverter/charger settings, particularly on grid-connected or parallel systems, should be done by a qualified installer familiar with VEConfigure. Incorrect configuration on grid-tied systems may affect G98 or G99 compliance, so always check settings against network operator requirements after changes.
