Product Description

The Victron Energy 12V 130Ah AGM Deep Cycle Battery is a sealed, maintenance-free lead-acid battery built for repeated deep discharge and recharge cycling. It suits solar energy storage, off-grid systems, marine setups and backup power installations that need dependable capacity and long cycle life.

Key features

  • Capacity, 130Ah rated at C20, a standard benchmark for solar and off-grid sizing calculations.
  • AGM construction, Absorbent Glass Mat design with no free electrolyte, making the battery spill-proof and suitable for enclosed spaces.
  • Deep cycle design, supports repeated deep discharge without the accelerated degradation seen in standby batteries.
  • Maintenance-free, sealed construction, no topping up of electrolyte required.
  • Voltage, 12V nominal, compatible with a wide range of Victron charge controllers, inverter/chargers and battery monitors.
  • Weight, 36kg, reflecting the plate mass used in deep cycle construction.

Product overview

AGM deep cycle batteries use thicker plates than standard AGM standby batteries, storing more active material and allowing deeper discharges over more cycles before capacity drops off. That makes them suited to daily cycling in solar storage, where a battery may be discharged and recharged every day for years.

The C20 rating of 130Ah means the battery delivers its full rated capacity over a 20-hour discharge period, a figure that maps well onto typical solar and off-grid discharge rates. Faster discharge rates give lower usable capacity, which should be factored into system design. Being sealed and valve-regulated, it does not emit hydrogen gas under normal operating conditions, which widens the range of installation environments compared with flooded lead-acid batteries. It works with Victron's recommended AGM charge profiles, across the full range of Victron MPPT charge controllers and MultiPlus or Quattro inverter/chargers.

Applications

Used in solar PV off-grid storage for residential, agricultural and commercial sites, marine house battery banks, motorhome and caravan leisure systems, UPS and backup power setups, and series or parallel battery banks in 24V or 48V off-grid systems.

Installation notes

This battery weighs 36kg, so safe handling needs two people or lifting equipment. Connections should be made by a qualified electrician or experienced installer familiar with lead-acid systems. When building a bank, use batteries of the same type, age and state of charge, and fuse and cable correctly in line with BS 7671. A qualified or MCS-accredited installer should handle solar PV work. Even though this is a sealed AGM battery, adequate ventilation in enclosed compartments is still recommended as a precaution.
