Product Description

The Victron 12V 165Ah AGM Telecom battery is a sealed, valve-regulated lead-acid (VRLA) battery built for standby and cyclic duty. It uses M8 threaded insert terminals and offers 165Ah of capacity, making it suitable for telecom infrastructure, off-grid power systems and other installations where a maintenance-free battery is needed.

Key features of this Victron 165Ah AGM battery

  • Voltage and capacity, 12V nominal, 165Ah.
  • Construction, AGM (Absorbent Glass Mat), sealed and valve-regulated, no maintenance required.
  • Terminals, M8 threaded inserts for secure, high-torque bolted connections.
  • Cycling, deep cycle design for repeated charge and discharge without premature capacity loss.
  • Grade, telecom-specification build for continuous standby and float charge use.
  • Orientation, spill-proof and leak-proof, can be installed in any position except inverted.

Glass mat separators hold the electrolyte in place rather than as free liquid, so there is no water top-up needed and no off-gassing under normal operating conditions. This allows installation in enclosures with limited ventilation, provided the enclosure itself meets the requirements for the application. The telecom designation reflects a higher build standard and cycle life than a standard standby AGM battery, and the M8 terminals give a lower-resistance connection than bolt-on types, useful where vibration or repeated maintenance access is expected.

Applications

Used in telecom base stations, off-grid solar storage, UPS systems, marine and motorhome house banks, security and access control backup, and industrial standby power. Batteries of this capacity are typically wired into banks for higher voltage or greater total storage, with cable sizing, fusing and battery management specified to suit.

Installation notes

At 48.8 kg this is a heavy unit; safe handling needs two people or lifting equipment, and the mounting surface or rack must support the full bank weight. Torque M8 terminal bolts to the manufacturer's specification. Do not install in a fully sealed, unventilated space, and do not mix batteries of different ages, capacities or chemistries in the same bank. Pair with a Victron charge controller or inverter-charger set to the correct AGM profile.
