Product Description

This branch connector pair lets you wire two solar panels in parallel without a mess of loose cabling. Supplied as one male and one female connector, both MC4-compatible, so they work with standard solar PV modules. UV-resistant and weatherproof, they're built for outdoor use on the roof or ground mount.

How parallel wiring works

Connecting two identical panels in parallel joins the positive cables together and the negative cables together. Voltage (Vmp) stays the same while current at the maximum power point (Imp) adds up. As an example given by the manufacturer: one panel outputting 8A at 18V becomes 16A at 18V when two are paralleled.

Key features

  • Configuration, 2-in 1-out, supplied as a male and female pair
  • Connector type, MC4-compatible
  • Build, UV-resistant and weatherproof for outdoor installation
  • Cable reduction, combines two positives and two negatives into one positive and one negative
  • Polarity safety, removes the risk of a reverse polarity misconnection

Applications

Used for parallel string wiring of two solar panels in off-grid, grid-tied and hybrid systems, across residential and commercial PV installations.

What's in the box

  • 1x male multibranch connector: 2 male inputs, 1 male output
  • 1x female multibranch connector: 2 female inputs, 1 female output

Installation and safety notes

Fit an appropriate string fuse on each input before connecting to the branch connector. DC solar circuits carry dangerous voltages: never connect or disconnect under load. Wiring should be carried out by a qualified electrician or MCS-accredited solar installer.
