Product Description

The Victron Skylla-TG 24/50 (1+1) GL is a transformer-based battery charger for 24V systems, delivering up to 50A of charge current. Built for marine, commercial and industrial duty, it accepts AC input from 120 to 240V and provides a (1+1) dual output for managing two separate battery banks from one unit.

Key features for marine battery charger use

  • Charge current, 50A output into 24V battery systems.
  • Dual output, (1+1) configuration charges two separate battery banks independently.
  • AC input range, 120 to 240V, suited to shore power and generator supplies worldwide.
  • Certification, GL certified for marine and industrial use.
  • Charging profile, adaptive multi-stage algorithm with temperature-compensated output voltage.
  • Housing, aluminium enclosure for professional installation.

Product overview

The Skylla-TG range is Victron's transformer-based charger series for continuous duty applications. The transformer design gives galvanic isolation between the AC input and DC output, which matters on vessels and installations where ground loops or stray current corrosion are a concern.

The (1+1) output topology gives a primary output for the main battery bank and a secondary output for a service or starter battery, each managed independently. This can remove the need for a separate battery-to-battery charger or combiner relay. The wide AC input range means the unit runs correctly on both North American and European shore power, and on most generator outputs.

Applications

  • Commercial and leisure marine vessels needing shore power charging with galvanic isolation.
  • Heavy vehicles, coaches and motorhomes with large 24V banks and separate starter batteries.
  • Off-grid cabins and industrial sites running on generator power.
  • Telecom and backup power installations requiring continuous-duty charging.
  • Multi-bank systems where each bank needs its own charge profile.

Installation notes

Installation should be done by a qualified electrician familiar with DC battery systems and AC mains wiring. The AC supply must be correctly fused, and DC cabling sized for 50A continuous current with overcurrent protection on each output. Wire the (1+1) outputs to separate battery banks; do not parallel them. Check battery chemistry compatibility before connecting, as charge voltage settings must match the battery type in use.
