Product Description

The Victron Quattro-II 48/5000/70-50/50 230V is a 5000VA inverter charger built around a 48V battery bank, delivering 230V AC output with two independent AC inputs for grid and generator connections. It suits off-grid, backup and hybrid power systems that need reliable AC output alongside flexible charging.

Inverter with charger for 48V systems

  • Inverter output, 5000VA continuous at 230V AC from a 48V DC bank.
  • Battery charger, 70A output with adaptive multi-stage charging for lead-acid and lithium batteries.
  • Dual AC inputs, two 50A AC inputs allow connection of grid or shore power and a generator, with automatic transfer switching.
  • AC pass-through, two 50A outputs for separate load circuits.
  • PowerControl and PowerAssist, limits total AC draw and draws on battery power to supplement mains or generator supply when demand exceeds the input current limit.
  • Communication, VE.Bus interface for monitoring and configuration through VictronConnect or Venus OS devices, including parallel and three-phase operation with multiple units.

Product overview

The Quattro-II keeps the dual AC input layout of the original Quattro range with updated internals. Either AC input can be prioritised over the other, and the transfer switch operates without interrupting connected loads, which matters where a generator backs up grid power or where a vessel has both shore power and an onboard generator.

The 70A charger adjusts charge current based on battery temperature (with an optional sensor) and state of charge. PowerAssist draws from the battery to supplement a current-limited AC source, such as a small generator or restricted shore supply, rather than overloading it.

Weighing 28.35 kg, the unit requires two people to install along with appropriate mounting provisions.

Applications

  • Off-grid residential and commercial systems with a 48V battery bank and generator backup.
  • Marine and narrowboat installations needing dual AC source management between shore power and an onboard generator.
  • Remote telecoms, agricultural or industrial sites with unreliable or absent grid power.
  • Backup power systems requiring uninterrupted AC output during mains failure.
  • Multi-unit parallel or three-phase installations for higher output capacity.
