Product Description
The Victron Quattro 24/3000/70-50/50 is a combined inverter and dual-input battery charger built for off-grid, marine, vehicle and backup power systems. It takes two separate AC inputs, switches between them automatically, and delivers 3000VA of continuous AC output from a 24V battery bank. It suits installers working on systems that need reliable source switching alongside solid charging capability.
Key features of the Victron Quattro
- Dual AC inputs, connect two sources, such as shore power and a generator, with automatic switching between them.
- Inverter output, 3000VA continuous at 230V AC for standard single-phase loads.
- Battery charger, 70A multi-stage charging with adaptive algorithm from a 24V bank.
- AC pass-through, two 50A outputs allow direct load connection from whichever input is active, without drawing from the battery.
- PowerControl and PowerAssist, limits current draw from an AC source and tops it up with battery power when loads exceed the input limit.
- VE.Bus interface, integrates with Victron GX devices, VRM monitoring, and parallel or three-phase multi-unit setups.
How the dual inputs work
Unlike a standard inverter charger with one AC input, the Quattro monitors two sources at once. Wire shore power to input 1 and a generator to input 2, and the unit switches to whichever is available, with input 1 taking priority. If neither is present, it inverts from the battery on its own. There's no need for a manual changeover switch, and the risk of back-feeding a generator or shore supply is reduced.
PowerAssist helps where the AC supply is limited, such as a marina berth or a small generator. When a load exceeds what the input can deliver, the Quattro draws the shortfall from the battery instead of tripping the breaker. Configuration and firmware updates run through VE.Configure software via a VE.Bus to USB interface.
Applications
- Off-grid cabins where a generator supplements a solar battery bank and automatic switching is needed.
- Marine vessels with shore power and a generator requiring changeover and charging from either source.
- Motorhomes and large vehicles with 24V systems needing mains-quality AC output and dual-source charging.
- Backup power for commercial premises where generator and grid inputs must both be managed.
- Multi-unit parallel installations needing more capacity than a single unit provides.
