The Victron MultiPlus 12/1600/70-16 is a battery charger with inverter built into a single 12V unit, giving a 230V AC output for off-grid, marine and vehicle systems. It combines a pure sine wave inverter with a high-current charger and an automatic transfer switch, so one enclosure covers both jobs.

• VE.Bus communication, supports parallel and three-phase configurations, plus remote monitoring via a Victron GX device.
• Charge sensing, built-in battery temperature and voltage sensing for accurate charge management.

Applications

It suits off-grid cabins and remote buildings that need 230V AC from a 12V bank, sailing yachts and motorboats with 12V DC systems and shore power, and motorhomes or campervans charging from hookup. It also works as backup power for critical loads that need a fast changeover, or as part of a hybrid solar setup alongside a Victron MPPT controller and GX monitoring device.

Installation notes

Installation must be carried out by a qualified electrician or accredited installer. The unit wires directly into the 12V battery bank and the AC distribution board, and any grid-connected or shore-power installation should comply with BS 7671. Victron recommends configuring the unit with VEConfigure software before commissioning.
