Product Description

The Volta crimping precision tool is built for professional assembly of MC4 and MC4-compatible solar connectors on 2.5mm², 4mm² and 6mm² single and double insulated cables. Its ratchet mechanism runs through a full crimp cycle before releasing, so every connection gets a consistent, complete crimp.

Key features of this mc4 crimping tool

  • Connector types, MC4 and MC4-compatible connectors
  • Cable sizes, 2.5mm², 4mm² and 6mm²
  • Cable types, single and double insulated solar PV cables
  • Ratchet action, completes the full crimp stroke before the tool releases
  • Dies, replaceable, matched to each cable size
  • Build, professional grade construction for regular site use

Applications

The ratchet stops the tool opening before the crimp head finishes its stroke, which avoids under-crimped joints that can lead to high resistance connections, arcing or connector failure in DC solar circuits. Replaceable dies mean the correct die can be fitted for each cable size, extending the tool's working life.

Typical uses include MC4 connector assembly on site, residential and commercial PV installation and commissioning, and repair or replacement of existing connectors.

Installation and safety notes

Isolate the PV array before working on cables or connectors. DC solar circuits carry dangerous voltages. Cable assembly should only be carried out by a qualified electrician or MCS-accredited solar installer, in line with IET Wiring Regulations.
