Product Description

The Varilight V-Pro is a programmable intelligent dimmer switch built for wide compatibility with modern lighting loads. A 1 gang, 2-way push-on/off rotary control lets you set a minimum brightness level so the dimming range suits the lamps fitted.

Key features of this LED dimmer switch

  • Control type, trailing edge (AC triac) dimmer with push-on/off rotary button
  • Gang configuration, 1 gang, 2-way
  • Power rating, 0W to 120W, maximum 10 LEDs
  • Compatibility, works with LED lighting loads requiring trailing-edge or leading-edge control
  • Overload protection, microprocessor controlled, turns lights down or off if the load exceeds the rating

How the dimming works

Push the rotary button to switch the lights on or off. Turn it to dim. Minimum brightness is set using repeated pushes combined with signals read from the connected lamps, so the switch adapts itself rather than needing manual calibration for every fitting. Full programming steps are printed on the leaflet supplied with the switch, and Varilight also publish a video walkthrough for anyone who prefers to watch the process.

Overload protection

Because a microprocessor manages the dimming, the V-Pro can detect when too many lights or transformers are connected. Rather than failing, it reduces output or switches off until the load is brought back within its rated range. This protects the switch itself from the kind of damage that a simple mechanical dimmer cannot avoid.

Where to use it

Suited to mains lighting circuits and many dimmable low-energy fittings, including a range of dimmable LEDs, without requiring a minimum load to function correctly.
