Product Description

The Gaia rubber self-ballasted mounting system fits solar panels to flat roofs in a south-facing layout at a fixed 10° tilt. The base is made from 100% recycled rubber, so there's no need to penetrate the roof membrane, and no tools are required to assemble it. Rows interlock to resist wind without extra ballast blocks in most cases.

Key features

  • Tilt and orientation, 10° fixed angle, south-facing configuration
  • Base material, 100% recycled rubber with an integrated aluminium mini rail
  • Roof-safe, no roof penetrations, membrane-safe installation
  • Assembly, tool-free, interlocking rubber base
  • System weight, 11 kg/m²
  • Roof pitch range, suitable for 0° to 5° roof inclination
  • Wind rating, up to 145 km/h (40 m/s)
  • Operating temperature, -40°C to +80°C
  • Frame and fixings, EN AW-6060 aluminium profiles with stainless steel fixings (DIN ISO)
  • Warranty, 25 years

It also compatible with all standard solar panels, and the layout can be reconfigured for east-west orientation or adapted to southeast and southwest roof aspects. Voltacon's blog carries a short install video and further guidance for anyone planning a flat roof solar mounting system of their own.

Applications

This mounting kit for solar panel arrays suits south-facing residential and commercial flat roofs, particularly exposed sites where wind load calls for a low-profile system. It's a good fit anywhere roof penetration has to be avoided, and it can be adapted for southeast, southwest or east-west roof aspects.

Installation notes

Installation should be carried out by a qualified solar installer. Ballast needs depend on wind exposure, roof height and panel size, and should be calculated before fitting. All electrical connections to the panels must comply with current wiring regulations.
