The Victron Centaur 12/60(3) is a mains-powered battery charger with three independent outputs, delivering up to 60A total to 12V battery banks. It runs from a 120-240V AC supply, so it works on UK and EU shore power as well as North American mains without modification.

How it charges

Bulk stage delivers maximum current to bring the battery up to voltage quickly. Absorption holds voltage steady while current tapers off. Float then maintains full charge without overcharging, and storage mode reduces float voltage if the battery stays connected for long periods.

Applications

Suits vessels with separate starter, domestic and auxiliary battery banks, since each output is managed independently. Deep discharge on one bank does not affect charge quality on the others. Also used in motorhomes, off-grid cabins, industrial vehicles and standby power installations with multiple 12V battery systems.

Installation notes

Fit by a qualified electrician familiar with mains-connected charging equipment, on a correctly fused and earthed AC supply. Size battery cabling for 60A continuous current and keep runs as short as practicable. Allow ventilation around the unit and follow relevant marina and BS EN ISO wiring standards for shore power connections.
