The Victron VE.Bus BMS V2 is a battery management system for use with Victron LiFePO4 smart batteries. It monitors and protects the battery bank by controlling charge and discharge through the VE.Bus interface, and is intended for professional installation in off-grid, marine and vehicle power systems.

How it works

The unit reads cell voltage and temperature data directly from the batteries and uses this to instruct connected inverter/chargers and MPPT solar chargers to adjust or stop charging and discharging. This protects battery cells from conditions that reduce cycle life or cause permanent damage. The V2 revision is the current recommended unit for new installations and supports the pre-alarm function, giving the system time for a controlled shutdown before a hard disconnect. It communicates with GX devices such as the Cerbo GX for system visibility through the VRM portal or a local display. It must be used as part of a correctly specified Victron system with compatible LiFePO4 smart batteries, not as a standalone unit.
