Product Description

The Victron VE.Direct Cable is a data communication lead for linking Victron devices fitted with a VE.Direct port. At 3 metres, it suits installations where connected units sit a short distance apart, such as a charge controller and a GX display mounted in the same enclosure or cabinet.

Key features

  • Length, 3 metres
  • Interface, VE.Direct
  • Weight, 0.115 kg
  • Compatibility, VE.Direct-equipped devices including BMV battery monitors, SmartSolar MPPT charge controllers and Phoenix inverters
  • Origin, genuine Victron Energy accessory

Product overview

VE.Direct is Victron's own serial communication interface, used to pass data between devices such as an MPPT charge controller and a Colour Control GX, GlobalLink 520 or a computer running VictronConnect. A correctly rated, properly terminated cable is needed for this link to work. This 3m length is a common choice where the monitoring unit or GX device sits close to the charge controller or battery monitor, with enough slack to route neatly through an enclosure without excess cable. Other lengths are available in the VE.Direct range for longer or shorter runs.

Applications

  • Connecting a SmartSolar or BlueSolar MPPT charge controller to a Cerbo GX or Colour Control GX
  • Linking a BMV battery monitor to a GX device for system-level monitoring
  • Connecting a Phoenix inverter with a VE.Direct port to a monitoring or control unit
  • Interfacing a VE.Direct device with a laptop or Raspberry Pi via a VE.Direct to USB adapter, running VictronConnect or Venus OS
  • Off-grid cabin, narrowboat, motorhome and marine installations where Victron components sit close together

What's in the box

  • 1 x Victron VE.Direct Cable, 3m

Installation notes

Plug the cable directly into the VE.Direct ports on compatible devices; no tools are needed. Power down both devices before connecting or disconnecting where possible. The cable carries data only and does not supply power. Wider solar PV or battery system work should be carried out by a qualified electrician or MCS-accredited installer.
