Product Description
The Victron SmartShunt 1000A/50mV IP65 is a standalone battery monitor with the monitoring electronics built into the shunt itself, so no separate display is needed. It tracks current, voltage, power, state of charge and time to go, and connects to the VictronConnect app over Bluetooth for setup and monitoring. The IP65 enclosure suits damp or dusty locations.
Key features of this smart shunt battery monitor
- Current rating, 1000A continuous, measured with a 50mV shunt.
- Enclosure, IP65 rated, protected against dust and low-pressure water jets.
- Connectivity, Bluetooth via VictronConnect (iOS and Android), plus a VE.Direct port.
- Monitoring, state of charge, voltage, current, power and time remaining, all on one device.
- History logging, deepest discharge, average discharge, charge cycles and cumulative energy throughput.
- Battery compatibility, works with lithium, AGM, gel and flooded lead-acid chemistries.
Product overview
Configuration is done entirely through VictronConnect, where battery capacity, charge efficiency, Peukert exponent and charge floor are set to match the battery bank. Once set up, the SmartShunt runs on its own and keeps logging data regardless of whether a phone is connected.
The 1000A rating suits larger systems: high-capacity lithium banks, batteries wired in parallel, or setups with heavy DC loads from inverters, bow thrusters or electric drives. The VE.Direct port lets it feed data straight into a Victron Cerbo GX or other GX device for VRM monitoring.
Applications
Suited to off-grid solar systems, marine installations such as narrowboats and yachts, motorhome and caravan leisure battery setups, commercial vehicle auxiliary power, and industrial or telecoms battery backup in partially exposed environments.
Installation notes
The SmartShunt fits into the negative battery lead, between the battery negative terminal and every other negative connection in the system. Incorrect wiring gives inaccurate readings, and all charge sources (shore power, generator, solar controller) need to be wired through it for accurate current measurement. Installation in 12V, 24V or 48V DC systems should be carried out by a competent installer, and marine fitters should check relevant NMEA or RCD Directive requirements.
