Product Description
The Victron Quattro 12/5000/220-100/100 is a 5000VA inverter charger built around a 12V battery bank, with dual AC input capability and automatic transfer switching between the two sources. It combines source switching, battery charging and AC output in one unit, making it suited to off-grid systems, marine and vehicle installations, and backup power setups where mains and a generator both need to be managed.
Key features of the Victron Quattro inverter charger
- Inverter output, 5000VA continuous at 230V AC.
- Dual AC input, accepts two independent AC sources, such as mains and a generator, and switches automatically between them.
- Battery charger, 220A output with an adaptive four-stage algorithm (bulk, absorption, float, storage), adjustable for lead-acid and lithium chemistries via VE.Configure.
- Two AC outputs, AC-Out-1 stays live whenever the inverter runs; AC-Out-2 disconnects on battery power, so non-essential loads can be shed automatically.
- VE.Bus interface, supports remote monitoring, parallel operation and three-phase configuration.
- PowerControl and PowerAssist, limits draw from the AC input and tops it up with battery power when a load exceeds the input current limit.
- Protection, over-temperature, overload, short circuit and low battery voltage shutdown, plus a programmable relay.
Dual AC input and PowerAssist
Input 1 typically connects to shore power or mains, Input 2 to a generator. The Quattro monitors both and switches based on availability and programmable priority. Each input carries a 100A pass-through rating, so substantial AC loads can bypass the inverter stage directly, cutting heat and improving efficiency. PowerAssist lets the unit draw on the battery to supplement a current-limited AC source, such as a small generator, so that source is not overloaded.
System integration
VE.Bus connects the Quattro to the Victron GX device ecosystem, including Cerbo GX and Color Control GX, for monitoring and control. Multiple units can be run in parallel for extra capacity, or arranged in split-phase and three-phase setups for larger installations. At 36.5kg it needs secure, ventilated mounting in a suitable enclosure or battery compartment.
