Product Description

The Victron Quattro 24/5000/120-100/100 is a combined inverter and charger built for off-grid, backup and marine or vehicle installations. It runs at 5000VA continuous output from a 24V battery bank and takes two independent AC inputs, switching automatically between shore power, a generator and inverter output.

Key features

  • Continuous output, 5000VA from a 24V DC battery system
  • Built-in charger, 120A with adaptive multi-stage charging
  • Dual AC inputs, two independent 100A inputs for shore power and generator
  • Automatic switching, transfers between AC input 1, AC input 2 and inverter without a break in output
  • VE.Bus interface, for remote monitoring, parallel operation and three-phase configuration
  • PowerAssist and PowerControl, limits draw from generator or shore power and draws on the battery to cover peak demand

Product overview

Unlike the Multiplus range, the Quattro has two separate AC inputs rather than one. On a site with both a generator and a shore power connection, it monitors both sources, selects whichever is available and switches without interrupting the AC output. The 120A charger is sized to make good use of a generator run, charging a large 24V bank before the generator is switched off.

PowerAssist lets the unit draw from the battery when an AC input is current-limited and a load briefly exceeds that limit, rather than tripping the supply. This suits boats, motorhomes and remote sites where the AC source has a hard current cap.

VE.Bus allows several Quattro units to be configured in parallel, or in split-phase or three-phase arrangements, with a single GX device such as a Cerbo GX or Color Control GX monitoring the whole system. Configuration is done through VEConfigure software over a VE.Bus to USB interface.

Applications

Suited to off-grid cabins and remote buildings needing dual AC source management, marine vessels with shore power and generator connections, motorhomes and large vehicles on 24V systems, critical backup power installations, and parallel or three-phase commercial off-grid setups using multiple Quattro units over VE.Bus.

Installation notes

Installation should be carried out by a qualified electrician. At 31.5 kg, two people are advisable for mounting. DC cabling to the battery bank must be correctly rated and fused for the charge and discharge currents involved. Grid or generator connected installations in the UK should comply with current wiring regulations and, where applicable, G98 or G99 requirements. VEConfigure software and a VE.Bus to USB interface cable are needed for commissioning.
