Product Description

The Victron Centaur Charger 12/30(3) is a three-output mains battery charger built for marine, vehicle and off-grid installations. It delivers 30A of charge current to a 12V battery bank and accepts AC input from 120 to 240V, so the same unit works on UK shore power, EU marinas or North American supplies.

Key features

  • Charge current, 30A at 12V
  • Outputs, 3 independent channels for separate battery banks
  • AC input, 120-240V, suitable for multiple regions
  • Charging algorithm, microprocessor-controlled four-stage bulk, absorption, float and storage
  • Battery compatibility, flooded, gel and AGM lead-acid batteries
  • Protection, reverse polarity, short circuit and high temperature

Why three outputs matter

Each output is managed independently, so a discharged service or bow thruster battery does not stop the starter battery getting a full charge. This is useful on boats and vehicles running separate banks for different jobs. An optional temperature sensor allows temperature-compensated charging where ambient conditions vary.

Applications

  • Marine vessels with starter, service and bow thruster batteries
  • Motorhomes and coaches charging chassis and habitation batteries together
  • Off-grid cabins and leisure installations on mains or generator supply
  • Commercial vehicles and ambulances with auxiliary battery systems
  • Marina shore power on 120V or 240V circuits

Installation

Fit this charger with a qualified electrician or marine electrical engineer. The AC supply needs correct fusing and earthing, and each DC output should use cable and fusing rated for its battery bank. Follow relevant marine wiring standards where applicable. The unit weighs 4.3kg.
