Product Description

The Victron MultiPlus 12/800/35-16 is an inverter with battery charger built into a single 12V unit, giving 800VA of 230V AC output alongside a 35A charging circuit. It suits off-grid systems, marine and vehicle installations, and backup power setups where space is limited but reliability is not.

Inverter with battery charger in one unit

  • Inverter output, 800VA at 230V AC, powered from a 12V DC battery bank.
  • Battery charger, 35A output using a three-stage adaptive charging algorithm.
  • AC transfer switch, 16A rating, switching automatically between shore power or generator and inverter operation.
  • PowerAssist, draws on battery power to top up a limited AC supply when load demand rises, so a shore power breaker does not trip.
  • VE.Bus interface, connects to Victron GX devices for monitoring, configuration and system integration.
  • Two AC outputs, one with no-break UPS switchover, the other disconnecting when the unit runs on inverter power.

Applications

Fitted in off-grid cabins running from a 12V bank, on boats needing shore power passthrough with charging, and in motorhomes or campervans with 230V appliance loads. It also works as backup power for critical circuits in a home or light commercial setting, and can sit alongside Victron MPPT charge controllers in a hybrid system.

Installation notes

Fitting should be done by a qualified electrician or accredited installer. The unit connects to a 12V DC bank and to 230V AC circuits, and correct DC-side fusing and cable sizing matters given the currents involved at 12V. Any grid or generator connection must meet current UK wiring regulations. Configuring VE.Bus needs Victron's VEConfigure software and an MK3-USB adapter or equivalent interface cable.
