Product Description

The Voltacon precision stripping tool strips cables from 0.5mm² to 6mm² cleanly and accurately, including double insulated solar PV cable. A shaped blade removes insulation without damaging the conductor beneath, making it suited to MC4 connector preparation, control wiring and panel installation work.

Key features for solar PV cable preparation

  • Cable range, 0.5mm² to 6mm², covering single core and double insulated cables.
  • Insulation types, PTFE, silicone, Radox, Kapton, rubber and multi-layer double insulation as used on solar PV cable.
  • Blade, shaped, replaceable, made from special tool steel and oil-hardened for durability.
  • Second blade pair, holds the remaining insulation securely during the strip for a clean, even finish.
  • Length stop, adjustable, so the same strip length repeats accurately across multiple cables.

Applications

The form-locking stripping action suits repetitive connector assembly, series installation work and general control wiring preparation. It handles difficult insulation materials that ordinary strippers struggle with, and the adjustable stop is useful when several cables need the same finished length before fitting MC4 connectors.

Blade maintenance

The shaped blade is matched to the conductor cross-section and can be replaced by the user, which keeps the tool cutting cleanly over its working life without needing a full replacement.

Installation and safety notes

Always isolate the PV array before stripping or working on solar cables. DC solar circuits carry dangerous voltages, so this work should only be carried out by a qualified electrician or MCS-accredited solar installer.
