Product Description

The Victron Skylla-TG 24/30 (1+1) is a transformer-based battery charger for 24V systems, built to deliver 30A to a main battery bank while keeping a starter battery topped up through its dedicated (1+1) output. A wide AC input range of 120 to 240V lets it run from mains supplies or generator power without manual voltage selection, which suits marine, vehicle and off-grid installations that switch between AC sources.

Key features for marine battery charger use

  • Main output, 30A for 24V battery systems
  • Dual output, (1+1) configuration charges a starter battery alongside the main bank
  • AC input range, 120 to 240V AC, no manual adjustment needed
  • Charger type, transformer-based design with galvanic isolation between AC and DC
  • Charge control, Victron's adaptive algorithm adjusts the charge profile to battery condition

Product overview

The Skylla-TG range uses a transformer topology rather than switched-mode circuitry, giving true galvanic isolation. That matters where DC and AC grounds need to stay separate, and it also makes the charger tolerant of rough AC input such as generator power with voltage fluctuations or harmonic distortion.

The (1+1) output arrangement means two DC outputs are managed at once: the primary delivers 30A to the main bank, while the secondary maintains a starter or auxiliary battery independently, so neither is left unmanaged while the charger runs.

AC input flexibility

Because the input accepts 120 to 240V, the same unit works on North American 120V supplies, European 230V mains, or typical generator output without rewiring or switch changes.

Applications

Used on marine vessels needing isolated charging for main and starter banks, in coaches and motorhomes with 24V house systems and a separate starter battery, and in off-grid or industrial sites running on generator power with variable AC output. It also suits telecom and industrial backup systems needing 24V float and absorption charging.

Installation notes

Fit this charger with a qualified electrician or marine electrical engineer. Connect it to a correctly rated AC supply with suitable overcurrent protection, size the DC connections for the full output current, and check that the galvanic isolation meets the relevant classification society or national standard for marine use. Allow adequate ventilation around the unit while it operates.
