Product Description

The Victron Skylla-IP65 12/70(3) is a three-output, 70A battery charger for 12V battery banks, built for marine, vehicle and industrial use. It carries an IP65 rating and accepts an AC input range of 120 to 240V, so it can run from shore power or generators across the UK, EU and North America.

Marine battery charger features

  • Charge current, 70A total at 12V, split across three independently configurable outputs.
  • Ingress protection, IP65 enclosure, sealed against dust and low-pressure water jets.
  • AC input, accepts 120 to 240V AC, suited to varying shore power standards.
  • Charge algorithm, four-stage adaptive charging: bulk, absorption, float, storage.
  • Battery compatibility, configurable profiles for flooded, AGM and gel lead-acid batteries.
  • Temperature compensation, sensor input adjusts charge voltage to battery temperature.
  • Weight, 6.5 kg, metal housing.

Applications

Independent charging across three outputs suits vessels needing separate management of starter, domestic and auxiliary battery banks. The same layout works in motorhomes, coaches and HGVs with multiple 12V banks, and in industrial vehicles or plant working in wet or dusty conditions. The wide AC input range makes it a fit for installations connecting to shore power that varies between 120V and 240V, including off-grid cabins running from a generator.

Installation

Fit by a qualified electrician or marine electrical engineer. AC connections must meet local wiring regulations, including BS 7671 in the UK, and marine installs should follow relevant ISO or ABYC standards. Allow ventilation around the unit even though the enclosure is sealed, since the charger generates heat in use. Battery cabling needs to be rated for the 70A output and fused at the battery terminals.
