Product Description

The Victron MultiPlus 24/1200/25-16 combines an inverter, a battery charger and an automatic AC transfer switch in one unit. It runs on a 24V DC battery bank and outputs 230V AC, making it suited to off-grid installations, marine and vehicle systems, and backup power setups.

Key features

  • Inverter output, 1200VA continuous at 230V AC from a 24V DC battery bank.
  • Battery charger, 25A three-stage charger (bulk, absorption, float) with an adaptive charge algorithm.
  • AC transfer switch, 16A rating, with automatic switchover to shore power or a generator.
  • PowerAssist, supplements AC input with inverter power when load exceeds the available shore or generator supply.
  • VE.Bus communication, supports remote monitoring, system integration and parallel or three-phase configuration with additional units.
  • Programmable relay and generator start/stop functions, available via VE.Bus.

Product overview

When AC input is available, the MultiPlus charges the battery bank and passes power through to connected loads. If that input drops, it switches to inverter mode in under 20 milliseconds, fast enough to keep most sensitive equipment running through the changeover.

The 25A charger adjusts its behaviour to how the battery is used, which suits live-aboard boats, off-grid cabins and backup systems that cycle often. The 16A transfer switch rating is the maximum AC input current the unit will accept, and it needs factoring into supply cable and circuit protection sizing.

VE.Bus connectivity allows configuration and monitoring through Victron's VEConfigure software and GX devices. Multiple units can be paralleled for more output, or set up for split-phase or three-phase systems.

Applications

  • Off-grid cabins and remote properties with 24V battery banks needing 230V AC output.
  • Marine installations, including live-aboard vessels and motorboats needing shore power integration.
  • Motorhomes and large campervans with 24V electrical systems.
  • Backup power for critical loads in commercial or residential settings.
  • Scalable off-grid systems using multiple paralleled MultiPlus units.

Installation notes

Installation should be carried out by a qualified electrician or accredited installer familiar with DC battery systems and 230V AC wiring. The unit must connect to a correctly fused and rated 24V DC battery bank, and the 16A AC input rating must be respected when sizing supply cables and upstream protection. For any grid-connected or grid-backup application in the UK, check compliance with the relevant network operator requirements (G98 or G99) before commissioning. VE.Bus configuration needs Victron's VEConfigure software and a suitable interface cable or GX device.
