Product Description

The Victron MultiPlus 12/3000/120-50 combines an inverter and a battery charger in a single unit for 12V systems that need 3000VA of continuous 230V AC output. It suits off-grid installations, marine and vehicle systems, and backup power setups where both DC-to-AC conversion and mains charging are required.

Key features of this battery charger with inverter

  • 3000VA continuous inverter output at 230V AC from a 12V DC battery bank.
  • 120A charger with an adaptive algorithm suited to flooded, AGM and gel batteries.
  • 50A AC passthrough feeds connected loads directly from shore power or a generator while the battery charges.
  • PowerAssist draws on battery power to supplement a limited AC source instead of overloading it.
  • VE.Bus interface for parallel, split-phase or three-phase configuration with compatible Victron equipment.
  • Transfer switch with a typical switchover time of 20 milliseconds, plus a programmable relay and two-signal BMS connection for lithium batteries.

Product overview

In inverter mode the MultiPlus converts 12V DC from the battery bank into 230V AC true sine wave output at up to 3000VA continuous. The built-in 120A charger adjusts its profile to the battery in use, which helps across different chemistries. When mains or generator power is present, the 50A passthrough feeds loads directly from that source while the charger tops up the batteries.

PowerAssist draws on the battery to cover any shortfall when load demand exceeds a limited AC source, so a smaller generator or a metered shore supply can be used without tripping. VE.Bus lets several units be linked for higher current or arranged in split-phase and three-phase setups, and connects to Victron monitoring products such as the Color Control GX and Venus GX; configuration is handled through VEConfigure.

Installation notes

The MultiPlus 12/3000/120-50 carries significant DC current at 12V and should be installed by a qualified electrician or accredited installer, with DC cabling, fusing and battery connections sized for the current involved.
