Product Description

This Voltacon flat roof solar panel mounting kit uses a 10-degree ballast system with an east-west back-to-back layout, giving a low profile array that sits close to the roof surface. It suits residential and commercial roofs where wind exposure or planning sensitivity rules out steeper tilt frames. Universal fittings cover panel frames from 30mm to 40mm.

Key features of this flat roof solar mounting kit

  • Tilt angle, 10 degrees, reducing wind uplift and turbulence compared with higher tilt frames
  • Wind rating, aerodynamic low profile frame engineered to withstand winds up to 140 km/h
  • Orientation, east-west back-to-back configuration, also adaptable to single-row south, southeast or southwest layouts
  • Fixing method, fully ballast-mounted, no drilling into the roof membrane
  • Rail span, longest rail span of 2.4 metres
  • Frame compatibility, universal clamps for panel frames 30mm to 40mm deep

Construction

Rails and triangles are aluminium for strength with low weight, and fixings and hardware are stainless steel for corrosion resistance. The triangular frame shape lets air pass across the array rather than catching against it, which is what allows the lower tilt angle to hold up on exposed roofs.

Ballast and layout

Ballast such as concrete blocks or sandbags secures the system in place; quantities depend on roof exposure, panel size and local wind loading requirements. Panels are added in multiples of two (2, 4, 6 and so on), and mounting material is supplied to match the number of panels ordered.

Applications

Suited to flat roof residential PV installations, commercial and industrial warehouse rooftops, and exposed buildings where standard tilt frames or height restrictions rule out a steeper mounting angle. Because no roof penetration is needed, it also works well where protecting the waterproof membrane and insulation layer is a priority.
