Product Description

The Victron MultiPlus-II 48/3000/35-32 is a combined inverter and battery charger for 48V battery systems running at 230V AC. It suits off-grid installations, backup power systems, and solar energy storage applications where a single-unit inverter charger needs to do the job reliably. An integrated transfer switch and PowerAssist function make it practical for both standalone and grid-connected setups.

Key features of the battery charger inverter

  • Inverter output, 3000VA continuous at 230V AC from a 48V DC battery bank.
  • Battery charger, 35A output with an adaptive charge algorithm for different battery chemistries.
  • AC input limit, 32A, with PowerAssist to supplement grid or generator supply during peak loads.
  • Transfer switch, integrated, for automatic changeover between mains/generator and inverter operation.
  • Dual AC outputs, AC-Out-1 stays live during a mains failure; AC-Out-2 disconnects when inverting so non-critical loads can be shed.
  • System integration, VE.Bus for parallel operation and three-phase configuration, programmable via VictronConnect and Venus OS.

Product overview

The 48V DC input suits larger battery banks, where lower current draw reduces cable losses compared with 12V or 24V systems. At 3000VA the unit copes with most household or light commercial loads, including motor starting currents that would trip a smaller inverter.

PowerAssist matters where the available grid or generator supply is limited. When demand exceeds the incoming AC supply, the MultiPlus-II draws the shortfall from the battery rather than tripping the breaker, so a smaller generator can be used without overload risk. PowerControl works the other way, capping AC input draw to a set limit to protect the supply connection.

VE.Bus lets multiple units run in parallel or in split-phase and three-phase configurations, scaling the platform for larger installations. Paired with a Victron GX device such as the Cerbo GX, it gives full monitoring through the VRM portal: battery state of charge, AC input and output data, and remote firmware updates.
