Getting the rear-side gain

Bifacial panels only generate extra output from the rear cells if light can reach them. Installed at around 20° to 35° with clearance behind the panel and a reflective surface underneath, such as white gravel, painted concrete or a light membrane, the rear side adds to the front-side output. Mounting the panel flat against a dark or solid surface blocks this effect entirely, so ground-mounted frames, flat roof systems and open-frame carports work best.
