The Orion-Tr Smart 48/48-8A is a galvanically isolated DC-DC charger that takes a 48V input and delivers 48V output at up to 8A, for a maximum of 380W. It is built for installers who need electrical isolation between two 48V circuits, whether on a commercial vehicle, a boat, or an off-grid site.

How the isolation works

A high-frequency transformer breaks the direct electrical path between the two battery banks. That matters when both banks share a chassis ground or connect to equipment with different earthing references: without isolation, a straight DC-DC link can cause corrosion, interference or fault propagation between circuits. With this unit, that path is removed entirely.

Setting up charge profiles

Absorption voltage, float voltage, bulk current limit and tail current threshold are all set through VictronConnect. That lets the same unit charge lithium iron phosphate batteries or conventional AGM and gel banks, as long as the matching profile is loaded before use.
