Product Description
The Victron MK3-USB-C is a hardware interface that connects a computer or laptop to Victron VE.Bus devices via USB-C. Installers and technicians use it to configure, monitor and update firmware on compatible Victron inverters, inverter/chargers and Multi units through VEConfigure and VictronConnect software.
Key features
- Connection type, USB-C on the computer side, VE.Bus (RJ45) on the device side.
- Full VE.Bus configuration, required for VEConfigure tasks including transfer switch settings, charge parameters and assistant programming.
- Firmware updates, supports firmware updates on VE.Bus inverters and inverter/chargers.
- USB-C connector, works directly with modern laptops and computers without an extra adapter.
- Weight, 80g, compact enough to carry in a tool kit on site.
- Compatibility, works with the full range of Victron VE.Bus products including MultiPlus, MultiPlus-II, Quattro and related inverter/charger models.
Product overview
VE.Bus is Victron's communication protocol used across its inverter/charger range. Accessing the full configuration depth of these products needs a physical hardware interface between the VE.Bus RJ45 port on the unit and a computer running Victron's configuration software. The MK3-USB-C fills that role, replacing the older MK2 and MK3-USB (Type-A) interfaces with a USB-C variant suited to current hardware.
VEConfigure, the main tool for configuring VE.Bus devices, needs this interface to talk to the inverter or inverter/charger. Setting AC input current limits, configuring assistants, adjusting battery charge profiles and updating device firmware all depend on a working MK3 connection. Without it, these settings aren't reachable through any other means on VE.Bus-only products. The interface is also used alongside VictronConnect for certain diagnostic and monitoring functions, and it's a standard item for anyone working regularly with MultiPlus or Quattro systems.
Applications
- Configuring MultiPlus and MultiPlus-II inverter/chargers on residential and commercial installations.
- Programming Quattro units in off-grid, hybrid and backup power systems.
- Performing firmware updates on VE.Bus devices during commissioning or servicing.
- Setting up assistants such as ESS, generator start/stop or self-consumption via VEConfigure.
- On-site diagnostics and parameter checks by service engineers.
What's in the box
- 1 x Victron MK3-USB-C Interface (VE.Bus to USB-C)
Installation notes
This is a configuration and commissioning tool, not a permanent installation component. It should be used by qualified installers familiar with VEConfigure software and VE.Bus system architecture. Incorrect configuration of inverter/charger parameters can affect system behaviour and safety, so always check firmware and software versions are compatible before updating. No mains or battery wiring is involved in using the interface itself, but the connected inverter/charger should be handled to its own installation and safety requirements.
