The Victron Orion-Tr Smart 12/24-15A is a non-isolated DC-DC charger that converts a 12V supply into a regulated 24V output at up to 15A (360W). It suits dual-battery charging in vehicles, boats and off-grid systems where the starter and service batteries run at different voltages.

A dc-to-dc battery charger for dual-voltage systems

Unlike a basic converter, the Orion-Tr Smart applies a four-stage charge profile, bulk, absorption, float and storage, which matters for lithium and AGM batteries that need accurate voltage control. Bluetooth is built in, so charge voltages, current limits and battery type are all set up through the VictronConnect app on iOS or Android, with no separate interface required.

Installation notes

This is the non-isolated variant, so the input and output battery banks must share a common negative. Check your system topology before fitting it. Correct fusing on both input and output cables matters, and the unit needs a qualified auto-electrician or marine electrician for installation, with adequate ventilation around it in use.
