Product Description

The Victron Energy 6000A/50mV shunt is a high-current DC measuring shunt for large-scale battery monitoring, busbar metering and current measurement in commercial, industrial and off-grid power systems. It is compatible with Victron BMV battery monitors and other instrumentation that accepts a 50mV full-scale signal. At 6000A continuous rating, it suits high-capacity battery banks and large inverter installations where standard shunts are undersized.

Victron shunt key features

  • Current rating, 6000A continuous DC with a 50mV full-scale output signal.
  • Terminals, five M10 connection points for flexible busbar and cable termination on high-current installations.
  • Compatibility, works with Victron BMV battery monitors and any instrumentation accepting a 50mV shunt input.
  • Weight, 5kg, built for permanent fixed installation in switchboards and battery enclosures.
  • GTIN, 8719076035435.

How it works

A shunt inserts a known, very low resistance into the DC circuit. The voltage drop across it is proportional to the current flowing through. At 6000A full scale this shunt produces exactly 50mV, the standard input range accepted by most battery monitors and energy meters. The measurement is passive and needs no external power supply.

The five M10 terminals set this apart from single-bolt designs. Spreading the connection load across multiple bolts reduces contact resistance and improves mechanical stability, and lets several cable runs or busbars land directly on the shunt body. That matters in battery banks where multiple parallel strings need monitoring through one shunt point.

Applications

  • Large off-grid battery banks with multiple parallel strings needing a single measurement point.
  • Commercial and industrial DC power systems with high continuous current loads.
  • Marine and vessel power distribution boards requiring high-capacity battery monitoring.
  • Battery energy storage systems paired with Victron BMV monitors or compatible instrumentation.
  • Busbar metering in switchboards and DC distribution panels.

What's in the box

  • 1x Victron Energy 6000A/50mV shunt (5xM10)

Installation notes

This shunt carries up to 6000A and should be installed by a qualified electrician familiar with high-current DC systems, mounted on the negative conductor between the battery bank and the system negative busbar. All M10 connections must be torqued correctly with cable lugs rated for the full current, and the shunt must be positioned so all battery current passes through it for accurate readings.
