Product overview

The 12/500 sits at the entry point of Victron's VE.Direct inverter range, sized for loads such as laptops, LED lighting, small power tools and phone chargers. Pure sine wave output means it will run equipment a modified sine wave inverter cannot, including many motor-driven appliances and audio or medical devices.

VE.Direct sets this apart from a basic inverter. It can be monitored and configured through Victron's GX devices, the VictronConnect app via a VE.Direct to USB or Bluetooth adapter, or folded into a wider Victron system. This is a 12V unit only; check your battery bank voltage before specifying it, as it will not run on 24V or 48V systems.

Applications

Fits van and motorhome conversions, narrowboats and sailing vessels with 12V DC banks, small off-grid cabins and garden buildings with light AC loads, backup power for low-wattage equipment during outages, and remote site power for laptops, lighting and small tools. It can also be integrated into a monitored Victron off-grid system via VE.Direct.

Installation notes

Connect to a 12V DC battery system with correctly rated DC cabling and fusing; undersized cable at this power level causes voltage drop and can create a fire risk. Installation should be carried out by a qualified electrician or competent person. The unit is not grid-connected and does not require G98 or G99 notification. Any wider solar or battery system should be installed to BS 7671 wiring regulations.
