Product Description

The Solar Assistant Raspberry Pi 4 monitoring system comes pre-installed on a Raspberry Pi 4 equivalent (Orange Pi) board, housed in an aluminium enclosure with cooling pads. It's ready to use out of the box, with no subscription or renewal fees, and tracks inverters, battery systems and shunt resistors in real time through clear visual charts.

Solar assistant raspberry pi monitoring features

  • Processor, 1.8GHz quad-core 64-bit, 2GB RAM, 8GB onboard eMMC
  • Storage, 32GB Lexar MicroSD card with the software preloaded
  • Connectivity, WiFi 2.4GHz/5GHz, Ethernet 1Gbps, 4 x USB ports
  • Battery systems, supports 12V, 24V and 48V setups
  • Continuity, keeps monitoring running from battery power during an AC outage or inverter fault

Power supply options

Two power supplies are included. A DC-DC supply takes 9V to 60V DC input from the battery bank and outputs 5V/3A via USB-C on a 2.5m cable, so monitoring continues through mains loss. A 230V mains USB-C supply is included for standard 24/7 operation from AC power.

Compatible inverters and batteries

Works with Voltacon, MPP Solar, Axpert, InfiniSolar, Sunsynk, Deye and Growatt inverters. Compatible with Pylontech US2000C, US3000C and US5000C, Pytes lithium batteries, and Voltacon energy storage. Also reads Victron SmartShunt data via a VE.Direct to USB cable, and communicates over USB-Serial RS232. Current Voltacon and Conversol inverters use an RJ45 COM port; older models use RS232. RS485 cables for Pylontech, Pytes and Sunsynk monitoring are sold separately.

What's in the box

  • 1 x Solar Assistant unit in aluminium enclosure (Orange Pi, pre-installed)
  • 1 x DC-DC power supply (9V to 60V input, USB-C 5V/3A output)
  • 1 x 230V mains to USB-C power supply
  • 1 x Lexar 32GB MicroSD card with preloaded software
  • 1 x RJ45 to USB communication cable for Voltacon inverters

Installation

Connect the unit to your inverter's communication port with the supplied cable, then join it to your network via Ethernet or WiFi. The interface loads in any browser on the local network, and remote access can be set up through port forwarding or the Solar Assistant cloud service.
