Product Description

A matched pair of MC4 solar connectors from Victron Energy, one male and one female, for joining PV cables in solar panel strings and array wiring. MC4 is the standard connector format used across most solar panels and PV cabling systems, giving a weatherproof DC connection for roof-mounted and ground-mounted arrays.

Applications

Used to terminate solar PV cable on rooftop installations, extend or join panel string cables on ground-mounted arrays, build custom-length DC cable assemblies for off-grid and hybrid systems, or replace damaged connectors on an existing array. The locking mechanism prevents accidental disconnection once mated, which matters on live DC circuits. They also suit MC4 input connections on Victron MPPT charge controllers and similar PV equipment.

Installation notes

Assembly requires a proper MC4 crimping tool; a generic tool will not give the correct crimp dimensions, and a poorly crimped connector is a common cause of resistance heating and long-term failure. UK grid-connected PV wiring must comply with BS 7671 and relevant G98/G99 requirements, and installation should be carried out by a qualified electrician or MCS-accredited installer. Never disconnect MC4 connectors under load: isolate the circuit first.
