Product Description

The ABB OVR PV surge protection device guards photovoltaic strings against lightning-induced and conducted overvoltages, rated for systems up to 1000VDC. It is a Type 2 / Class II SPD built for DC surge protection on solar panel installations, with removable cartridges so a faulty module can be swapped out after an event without rewiring the whole unit.

Key features of this dc surge protection device

  • Protection class, Type 2 / Class II SPD for solar PV DC systems
  • Voltage rating, maximum continuous operating voltage of 1000VDC
  • Cartridge design, removable cartridges for easy replacement after a surge event
  • Wiring, Y-configuration for effective protection
  • Compatibility, suits residential and commercial PV combiner boxes
  • Range, part of ABB's OVR PV range, designed specifically for photovoltaic applications

Applications

Fitted as DC string surge protection in residential and commercial solar PV systems, and used to protect inverter DC inputs against lightning strikes and induced overvoltages travelling down the array cabling.

Installation notes

Connect in parallel with the DC PV string conductors. DIN rail mounted. Installation must be carried out by a qualified electrician in line with IET Wiring Regulations.
