Product Description

The Voltacon 5.5kW home energy storage system packs a hybrid inverter, 5kWh lithium-ion battery bank and AC charger into one compact metallic cabinet. It's G98/G99 compliant and ENA registered, built for grid-tied UK homes that want self-consumption, backup power or off-peak tariff charging. Solar panels help but aren't required to run the system.

How it works

Surplus solar generation charges the battery first, with any excess exported to the grid if configured. Without panels fitted, the system can charge overnight on an off-peak tariff and discharge during peak hours, cutting electricity costs even before any PV is added. Panels can be connected later to boost self-sufficiency further.

It runs in grid-tie, off-grid, or grid-tie with backup mode, with supply priority set to PV, battery or grid as needed. A built-in timer handles scheduled charging and discharging, and real-time monitoring software is included alongside USB, RS232, Modbus, SNMP, GPRS and Wi-Fi communication interfaces.

Panel compatibility

Compatible with monocrystalline and polycrystalline PV modules only. Do not connect other array types, and never earth either terminal of the solar array.

Installation notes

Fitting must be carried out by a qualified electrician or MCS-accredited solar installer, with G98 or G99 notification and DNO approval secured before grid connection. AC wiring, battery connections, DC fusing and earthing must follow IET Wiring Regulations. IP20 rated for indoor use only, so this is not a DIY job.
