Product Description

The Victron Inverter 12/250 is a compact 12V DC to 230V AC pure sine wave inverter with a 250VA continuous output rating. It suits installers and professionals needing a low-power inverter for mobile, marine, off-grid and backup work. A SCHUKO output socket and VE.Direct communication port make it easy to fit into a monitored system.

Victron power inverter for low-power 230V loads

  • Output, 250VA continuous, 12V DC input, 230V AC pure sine wave output.
  • Communication, VE.Direct port for direct connection to Victron monitoring devices, including the Color Control GX and compatible displays.
  • AC socket, SCHUKO output, ready for use in most EU installations; a SCHUKO to UK adapter is needed for UK plugs.
  • Weight, 2.6 kg, suited to space-constrained vehicle, boat or cabinet installations.
  • Protections, low battery voltage shutdown, over-temperature protection and overload protection.
  • App support, works with VictronConnect via a VE.Direct to USB or Bluetooth dongle for configuration and monitoring.

Product overview

The 12/250 sits at the entry point of Victron's VE.Direct inverter range. At 250VA it isn't meant for high-draw appliances, but it covers laptops, LED lighting circuits, small power tools, phone chargers and similar loads. Pure sine wave output means it suits equipment that would struggle on a modified sine wave supply.

The VE.Direct port lets the unit report status, alarms and operational data to a Victron GX device, or to a laptop or phone via the right interface cable or dongle. That makes it a component in a monitored off-grid or vehicle system rather than a standalone unit. VictronConnect handles configuration of parameters such as low battery alarm and shutdown thresholds.

Applications

  • Campervans and motorhomes needing a 230V AC supply from a 12V leisure battery.
  • Marine installations requiring a compact, monitored inverter for low-power AC loads.
  • Small off-grid cabins or sheds with a 12V battery bank needing occasional 230V AC output.
  • Emergency backup power for low-draw communications equipment, routers or medical devices.
  • Integration into a Victron-monitored system where VE.Direct reporting is required.

Installation notes

DC connections need cable and fusing rated for the current this inverter can draw on a 12V system. The AC output is live during operation, so AC wiring should be handled by a qualified electrician. This inverter is not grid-connected and does not require G98 or G99 notification. Fuse the DC supply as close to the battery as practicable in vehicle or marine installations.
